Compact cylindrical design and comfortable operation
A newly developed compact AF drive unit and aperture drive unit are packaged in a sleek, high-performance cylindrical mount adapter. The adapter matches the diameter of the A-mount so that nothing protrudes from the bottom of the mount when used on a compact E-mount body, ensuring comfortable hold and operation even when the camera is mounted on a vertical grip.

How to use

Attach the LA-EA5 to an E-mount camera body by aligning the adapter mount and locking it into place, then mount the A-mount lens onto the adapter until it clicks. Power on the camera and confirm in the camera menu that lens and AF functions are recognized; use the camera’s autofocus settings to select Real-time Eye AF or Real-time Tracking when available. For continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking, enable the appropriate drive mode on the camera and select a compatible shutter speed and exposure settings.

Recommendations

For best results, use the adapter with E-mount bodies listed as compatible by Sony and ensure your A-mount lenses’ firmware (if applicable) is up to date. Performance of autofocus, subject recognition, and continuous AF/AE tracking depends on the specific camera body and lens combination; consult compatibility information before critical shoots.
