Micro à condensateur Behringer CB100

The Behringer CB100 condenser microphone is designed for capturing violin sound with clarity and precision. It offers a wide frequency response and low self-noise to reproduce the instrument's tonal range accurately. The microphone uses a cardioid pickup pattern to focus on the source while reducing unwanted ambient noise. Its compact form factor and robust construction make it suitable for both studio sessions and live performance setups.

Advantages

The CB100 provides a balanced and detailed sound reproduction tailored to acoustic violin timbres. Low inherent noise and a wide frequency range help preserve delicate overtones and bowing nuances. The cardioid polar pattern improves isolation of the violin in ensemble or live situations, while the compact, durable body allows flexible placement and reliable operation over time.

Suitable for

• Studio recording of solo and ensemble violin
• Live performance and stage amplification of violin
• Classical and contemporary acoustic music recording
• Microphone rigs for chamber music and small ensembles

Key specifications

• Microphone type: condenser
• Polar pattern: cardioid
• Frequency response: wide range suitable for violin (captures fundamental and harmonic content)
• Self-noise: low, designed to minimise circuit hiss and preserve detail
• Form factor: compact design for close placement and easy positioning
• Construction: durable housing suitable for studio and stage use

How to use

Position the CB100 approximately 15–30 cm from the violin, slightly off-axis toward the f-holes or the bridge depending on the desired balance between body and bow detail. Use a stable stand or clip to prevent handling noise and ensure consistent distance. Connect to a mixer or preamplifier with phantom power enabled if required by your audio chain. Adjust gain gradually to avoid clipping while preserving dynamic nuance.

Recommendations

For best results in recording, pair the CB100 with a clean, low-noise preamp and monitor the signal through headphones. In live settings, combine the cardioid pattern with careful stage placement and modest room monitoring levels to reduce bleed from other instruments. Regularly check mounting hardware and cabling to maintain consistent sound quality.
