Vis Fischer 670472 280 mm

The Fischer 670472 280 mm screw is a metal wood screw engineered for heavy-duty timber connections. At 280 mm total length with a 6 mm thread diameter and a 70 mm threaded portion, this fastener is intended to create secure, long-lasting joints in structural and carpentry applications. Supplied in packs of 25, the screw is suitable for projects where dependable mechanical strength and corrosion resistance of a metal screw are required.

Advantages

This metal screw combines significant length and a robust 6 mm thread diameter to deliver high pull-out resistance and shear strength in wooden substrates. The 70 mm threaded section ensures a firm grip in the workpiece while the unthreaded shank portion allows for proper clamping and alignment of joined elements. Available in a compact pack of 25, it supports both small-scale repairs and larger installation tasks without frequent reordering.

Suitable for

• Timber framing and structural wood connections
• Decking, pergolas and outdoor wooden constructions
• Joining thick boards, beams and posts
• Carpentry projects requiring deep embedment and high load capacity

Key specifications

• Total length: 280 mm
• Thread diameter: 6 mm
• Thread length: 70 mm
• Material: metal (steel)
• Pack quantity: 25 pieces

How to use

Pre-drill a pilot hole appropriate to the screw diameter and the density of the wood to reduce splitting and ensure accurate alignment. Insert the screw using a compatible driver or powered screwdriver with the correct bit size, applying steady pressure and controlled speed. For best results, drive the screw until the head sits flush or slightly countersunk depending on the desired finish. When connecting two wooden elements, position the unthreaded shank within the first member to allow the threaded portion to pull the pieces tightly together.

Recommendations

Use corrosion-resistant fasteners or additional protective coatings for prolonged exposure to outdoor or high-humidity environments. Match pilot hole diameter to wood species and consider using wax or lubricant on the screw thread for dense hardwoods to ease driving and reduce torque.
