Filtre ND variable Moment 49 mm (2-5 stops)

With a density range of ND4 to ND32 (2 to 5 stops), this 49mm variable neutral density filter from Moment gives you precise control over light intake, enabling slower shutter speeds and wider apertures in bright conditions. Built around Schott B270 Pro Glass with a 16-layer nano-coating, it delivers neutral color rendition, minimal flare, and robust protection against scratches, moisture, and fingerprints. The aerospace-grade metal frame rotates smoothly with hard stops at both ends, preventing accidental over-rotation, while the front 49mm thread allows stacking with other filters or lens caps. A slim profile reduces the chance of vignetting on wide-angle lenses, and the included metal case and microfiber cloth keep your filter safe and clean on location.

Overview

Variable ND filters are essential for photographers and videographers who need to maintain creative control over exposure without changing camera settings. This Moment filter covers a 2–5 stop range, making it ideal for achieving motion blur in daylight, shooting wide open for shallow depth of field, or smoothly adjusting exposure during video recording. The filter’s optical design preserves sharpness and contrast, while the multi-layer coating minimizes reflections and ghosting. The metal frame is engineered for durability and smooth operation, with a knurled edge for easy grip even with gloves. Whether you’re capturing landscapes, portraits, or cinematic footage, this filter offers reliable performance in a compact, travel-friendly form.

Our verdict

The Moment 49mm Variable ND Filter strikes an excellent balance between optical quality, build durability, and ease of use. Its 2–5 stop range covers the most common scenarios for both stills and video, and the hard stops prevent the dreaded X-pattern that plagues many variable NDs. The included case and cloth are thoughtful touches that protect your investment. If you need a reliable, neutral, and compact variable ND for a 49mm lens, this is a top contender.
