Compas à balustre Herlitz 8710105 noir

The Herlitz bow compass 8710105 in black is a precision drawing instrument designed for accurate circles and arcs in geometry and technical drawing. It combines a rigid metal construction with an ergonomic grip to provide stable handling and consistent results. The compass is suitable for school use as well as for professional tasks that require controlled radius adjustment and repeatable measurements.

Advantages

The compass features a robust hinge and finely threaded adjustment mechanism that enable precise radius setting and smooth movement. Its ergonomic handle ensures comfortable control during extended use, while the solid leg and needle provide stable anchoring on paper. The black finish gives the instrument a professional appearance, and its compact design makes it easy to store in pencil cases or drawing kits.

Suitable for

• School geometry exercises and math classes
• Technical drawing and drafting tasks
• Design sketches and pattern making
• Measurement and layout work in crafts and model making

Key specifications

• Construction: metal legs with reinforced hinge for stability
• Adjustment: threaded fine-adjust mechanism for precise radius control
• Grip: ergonomic handle for comfortable use
• Point type: fixed needle point for secure anchoring on paper
• Finish: black coating for a professional look
• Size: compact, suitable for storage in pencil cases and tool kits

How to use

Place the needle point on the chosen centre mark and adjust the opposite leg to the desired radius using the fine-adjust mechanism. Hold the ergonomic grip firmly and rotate the compass leg around the centre point to draw a smooth circle or arc. For repetitive or precise work, check the radius setting periodically and tighten the hinge if any play is observed. Use on standard drawing papers, graph paper, or card stock, and avoid pressing excessively to prevent tearing the surface.

Recommendations

Store the compass in a protective case or pencil box to preserve the needle point and adjustment mechanism. Replace or sharpen the lead as needed for consistently clean lines, and inspect the hinge regularly to maintain precise operation.
