Serveur série Silex SD-330AC

The Silex SD-330AC serial device server enables RS-232C serial devices to connect to a wireless LAN for industrial automation, building automation and medical device applications. It supports Infrastructure and Ad-Hoc Wi‑Fi modes and allows devices to roam between access points. The SD-330AC works with SX‑Virtual Link software to provide remote access to serial devices across a WLAN and is compatible with common Windows desktop and server operating systems. The unit provides a single RJ-45 Ethernet port, supports TCP/IP networking, and includes multiple wireless and security standards to integrate serial equipment into a networked environment.

Advantages

The SD-330AC removes the need for a direct serial connection to a PC by sharing RS-232C devices over wireless networks, improving installation flexibility and enabling remote maintenance. It supports a wide set of wireless standards (including IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and enterprise security protocols (EAP-FAST, LEAP, PEAP, TTLS, SSL/TLS, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK). Lightweight and compact, it fits industrial and medical installations that require reliable serial-to-LAN connectivity.

How to use

Install the SD-330AC near the serial device and connect the device to the unit’s RS-232C port. Power the SD-330AC with the supplied 5 V adapter and connect its Ethernet port if wired network access is required. Configure wireless settings using the device’s web interface or management utility and choose Infrastructure or Ad‑Hoc mode depending on the network. Install SX‑Virtual Link software on a host PC to discover and map the serial ports over the WLAN for transparent serial communication.

Recommendations

Place the SD-330AC in an area with stable Wi‑Fi coverage and avoid strong sources of electromagnetic interference. Use WPA2-PSK or an enterprise EAP method for secure deployments, and ensure firmware and SX‑Virtual Link software are kept up to date for compatibility and security.
